Beyond Oak Framing

Whilst oak framing remains at the heart of House Martin Oak, I am equally happy to undertake a wide range of carpentry, joinery and timber construction projects. Whether you need a new floor laid, doors fitted, skirting and architraves scribed and installed, bespoke shelving, decking, a garage conversion or any other timber project, every job receives the same care, attention to detail and pride in workmanship. No project is too small to be considered, and I enjoy applying the same precision and craftsmanship to everyday carpentry as I do to larger bespoke structures.

My background extends well beyond oak framing. Before specialising in traditional timber structures, I spent many years designing and building professional recording studio environments. Beginning at Abbey Road Studios as an assistant engineer, I developed an understanding of acoustic design and the technical requirements of professional studio construction, before going on to design, build and consult on studio projects for commercial clients, universities and educational establishments.

Recording studios are amongst the most technically demanding interiors to construct. They require exceptional accuracy, carefully detailed joinery, isolated and decoupled structures, acoustic design and a high standard of finish. The same attention to detail, problem-solving and craftsmanship now carries through into every project I undertake.

Whether fitting a hardwood or engineered floor, hanging doors, installing bespoke joinery, completing a garage conversion or constructing an oak frame, the approach remains the same: careful planning, precision workmanship and pride in the finished result.

Garage Conversions

From converting cold, uninsulated garages into warm, functional living spaces to creating bespoke interior joinery, I enjoy transforming ordinary spaces into practical, high-quality environments. These projects often involve coordinating with electricians, plumbers and other trades while maintaining a consistent standard of workmanship throughout.

Studio Builds

My previous work includes the design, construction and consultation of professional recording studios for commercial clients, universities and educational establishments. These highly specialised environments demand an exceptional level of precision, incorporating acoustic design, isolated and decoupled structures, bespoke joinery and meticulous attention to detail. The experience gained from these projects continues to influence the way I approach every aspect of my work today.
